Should i build my iroc 305???
I am rather new to this but I recently bought an 89 iroc z w/305cid. My question is would it be worth the money to build it. I would like to keep it original as possible. Does anyone else fall in this category? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

It's not worth building it.
That is, it's not worth building it for investment purposes. Pretty much every dollar you spend on building it, is spent purely for your own pleasure. Dont expect it to increase the value of your car one single dollar.
Now, for the pure pleasure of it, sure, it's worth it, if you really, really want to do it. Just pick the performance level that you would be satisfied with, and stick to it. Otherwise, you'll never be happy and will spend tons of money chasing down that moving target called "performance".

Tony, I forgot to ask which 305 you have in your '89 IROC: Is it the TPI or TBI equipped version? Each engine requires a different approach to building it up. If you want to keep it as original as possible, then that too, requires a different approach. Where do you want to start? Suspension & brakes? Make it a canyon carver? A Saturday night stoplight special? There are a hundred different ways to go on a buildup project.
