Shaved my blinkers!

Well, I had a minor wreck and cracked my front nose abit, so I decided to fix the crack. it went remarkably well! So, I went on to try my hand a bit more body work, shaved the nose emblem, and that to went really good! THEN, for some strange reason, I thought it would be pimp to shave off the front blinkers.

I picked up an old scrap nose to use for Urethane material, as well as a "test" to see if I could actualy pull this off:

(process pictures on the scrap urethane nose)

any way, high off of my success with the $28 scrap nose piece, I cut out the "filler plates" from that nose, and went to work on my real nose. the results shock me, turned out really good!

(process and finished pictures on the REAL urethane nose)

A friend of mine helped me wire up my foglights into blinkers (I am electricly illiterate), and they work great!

The primer is just rattle can, and you can see streaks (that make it look like a bad photoshop job), but using the "hand meter", the area where the holes used to be is actualy quite smooth.

I think a friend of mine (who originaly primered my car) said he would help me out and do that for me again when all the body work is done.

Has anyone EVER shaved their blinkers before?

I was just wondering, I knew I had seen a few people "shave" off their nose emblems, but have never seen the blinkers the same way.

anyway, I figured I'd post up and let yall see my progress on the car.

Thumbs up

I think you did an awesome job of it, but I don't know how much I like the idea of not having blinkers up front. It's ilegal (I believe) to have white turn signals.

But like I said it looks like the work you did turned out very well. Good job.

I understand that, but they are white lights. Not only that but what's the point of having "fog lights" if they're not used for that. Not only that, but if they're turned on and you use your turn signal then what?

I like the look of no fog lights with parking/turn lights instead/better. But that's just my opinion. Something more like this.

As far as that being illegal, yeah it is, but in comparision how many ricers do you see with clear corner lights, or even some f-bodys that switched over to clear corners. Some even put in blue bulbs to make it more illegal. You really dont get pulled over for it thou, unless the cop is looking for a reason to pull you over. Most of the time its just another thing to add to the list of tickets he give you when hes pissed

Looks awsome btw, might do it to my 87

I never used the foglights anyway. Alot of Camaros dont' even have them, so I don't think is much of a loss to be with out them.

Anyway, if they are illegal and I get pulled over (I don't really want that), then I'll just have to fab up an amber light or something.

shaved side markers

Have you considered shaving your side markers? I think that would look good with your setup, maybe even the door handles and locks too. Im considering shaving side markers, door handles and locks. Very nice work tho.

Yeah thats a good idea w/ the sidemarkers, as for the door handles, I shaved mine on my old 89 jeep, It looked amazing, but getting the doors to still open up from the inside was a problem because the mechanism was attached to the same one as on the outside If its the same with camaros I would use a braided steel line instead of thin steel line trippled over, because if you just use thin steel and tripple it over after 5 months it will break and youll have to either redo it or just use the popper to open it. I added momentary switches on the inside of the car and hooked them up to the popping relays so I could pop the doors without the remote, I had to add a sepereate switch after a while to disable this feature because my friends liked to poped the doors on the rear passengers while driving

I cant see shaving the sidemarker being more illegal than shaving your blinker and using your fog lights inplace

side markers

I thought they were only reflectors right? So someone doesnt hit your car. If not use those for the blinkers.

yea, but I technicly still have blinkers on the front, that replace the ones I filled in. Nothing would be replacing the side markers... they would just be gone.

hm... I am in Phoenix Arizona, how do I find out the car laws here?

Thanks!

what about moving the side marker to behind the front wheel instead of in front. or is that a nono with domestics.
also sideview mirror signal lights may be an option. or use leds to hide it more.... or not.

hm... Idonno. I'll leave them for now. gotta figure out something for my hood. the hood is a bit crooked, but thats not the main problem. when I rearended a truck, the center part of my front end got pushed in about 1/4 inch, so the sides of the hood line up with the fender and front nose, but the center of the hood hangs over the nose piece a bit.

I am thinking that it would be easier to get a fiberglass hood, and file off the center part untill it matches up with nose, rather than trying to re bend the entire front end to match the hood...

Idonno, I don't have money for a hood now, so it will just stay like it is for a while.
