Service Engine Soon
Service Engine Soon
Hi y'all.
Well I get this sign showed everytime I drive around with my Iroc... The previous owner said it would disappear after a few minutes of driving, as a reminder for a recommended upcoming service (as the sign says
) but it doesn't.
The necessary services to the car have been done, but the guy doing them couldn't reset the sign, and so it's still showing...
How can I get it to not light up everytime? Or is it a sign the services had NOT been done?
I heard of some ECM code thing one can purchase at GM dealer.. But is that also available in Germany?
Have many thanxxxx as always.....

You can disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes and this will reset the computer and the light. If the light comes back on, that means you still have a problem that is setting off the light. Autozone can check it and see what code is stored.
Take a paper clip and unfold it. Form it into a very tight U shape. Stick the paperclip into the top rightmost holes (A and B) in the ALDL port under the drivers side dash right by your right knee.
Make sure that they are all the way in the plug then turn the key forward to the accessory position.
The SES light should flash a code 12 3 times in a row, then it will start showing you codes of things that are tripping the SES light.
The code 12 will appear as 1 flash, a short pause, then 2 quick flashes. So on and so forth.... When you pull the codes after the code 12 post them and we'll decode them for you.
Good luck.
