Service Engine Light... came on, went off
last night i was driving and the light went on... then after about 10 minutes it went off... i was driving around in the city, no more than 35, 40 mph when this happened.... is there any way i can find out what code it shot out? i wouldnt think it was too serious since it went off without me turning off the car, but i still wanna know what it could be so i can prevent it from happening again. maybe it was my vss? cuz my speedometer's fubar right now and i noticed it didn't work at all while the SES light came on... after it went off, it still didnt work for about 5 minutes, and then it worked... would that cause an SES light? thanks guys

Sounds like the VSS but you can never be sure. Check the error codes by shorting out the A and B terminal of the ALDL. If it gives a VSS code then it would be time to look at the VSS connector to make sure it is tight. If so, take it out and look at the driven gear and see that all the teeth are there. Have the rear end up and check by turning the rear wheels to make sure the drive gear has all the teeth. If those are fine then replace VSS. If the drive or driven gear has a few chunks missing, changing the VSS 10 times will not help.

Go to the Misc section
The ALDL should be next to the fuses on the underside of the dash.
