Oh, man! These come out right after I get the C4 kit. Oh well, still tons better than the stock 10.5" anchors...

Just out of curiosity, what's the difference in price between the LS1 kit and the C4 kit? Size?

Just a FYI, I just bought a brake kit from him, good guy to do business with.

Are those brakes a bolt-on affair? If not, how much fabrication is involved?

I haven't gotten around to installing the setup yet, but they consist of modified spindles, a custom adapter and the caliper and cage. These use C4 brake components like the 1LE brakes and use the turned-down factory rotor as an adapter to run bearings, and then the composite C4 rotors slide over them. I'm sure Ebmiller88 can fill in the specifics for you...

Hey I got an idea. Alot of LT1 and LS1 cars are now using C5 Corvette front brakes as upgrades. Factory 13", and the experienced say that they work as good as if not better than the Baer kits. Composite rotor setup like the C4 brakes. Why not do one of them? I know I'd be game for an upgrade to the 12's I have now, I can just put 'em on my other car. Just a thought!

I'm game!

ebmiller: Are you selling them? If so how much and is it just a bolt on kit?

The C5 brake upgrade has been done before. It's just like the LS1 brake upgrade, except the adapter plate is slightly different and the bigger C5 rotors force you to use at least 17" wheels for clearance.

Do you modify the original spindles?

On my 96 WS6, I converted to C4 13" brakes. I had to saw off the ears and put a new adapter. Other than that, it was a bolt on deal. Is this basically the same thing?

No. I didn't, he has to modify them. Ask him though, I'm sure he can fill you in with all the details. I know he charges a core though for the spindles

C4/LS1 brakes: Both are 12" rotors, the LS1s are 1.25" thick, the C4s are .81" thick; calipers and carriers are different and therefore the mounting brackets are different.

You modify the stock spindles. Not too hard really, and yes, it's a bolt on thing. I updated my pic page with descriptions so check it out. Thubs, brackets, and spindles are the only custom parts. All else is factory GM.

E-mail me with any questions you may have about doing either of the C4/LS1 upgrades. I have a 1LE car and a car with the C4s, and both stop very well.
