selling rebuilt engine, how muh can i get?

ok im rebuilding my 305. this is what is being done.

1986 305

- cylinder walls honed
- all new bearings/seals/rings/gaskets etc
- new very mild cam
- new stock lifters
- cleaned pistons and valves
- hot tanked all parts
- new oil pump
- valves have been done w/ head.. so its like new

basically its a stock rebuild.

i would like to sell with the tranny.. a t5 with the clutch/pressure plate etc. tranny runs good

i am probably going to put the alternator and starter on the motor.. i think i am going to keep the stock carb for my 454

so whats a reasonable price?

the motor is in good shape, its gonna be new pretty much. and when i sell it it will have 0 miles on the rebuild. so far i've spent $650 CDN on parts for it, got parts at cost

If you sell it with the tranny I would guess anywhere from $2 - $2,500. Depending how many miles are on the tranny and if its in good shape as you say I dont think you would have any trouble getting $2,500 out of it.

wow! that's used LS1 price range, not 305 even with a trans. id go MATBE 8-900 for the engine, ive seen fresh rebuilt 305's go for $500 over on thirdgen.org classifieds. Not sure about that trans though....
