school bus turbo?
school bus turbo?
alright well i have a 92 camaro with a 305 i just goof around with. my question is this: ( and i apologize if its ridiculous) but i have a turbo off an international school bus, is there a way i can fabricate it to work on a car? id go with a carb instead of the tbi but is that at all feasible? even if i blow off most of the boost?
i know a while back some guy used a tractor turbo in his 5.0 mustang and ran like 10s if i remember

The IHC turbo is about the right size but it's really designed for low rpm diesel operation. It would work but not as good as a turbo designed for a gas engine. The IHC diesel turbo only makes about 28 psi boost maximum.
The IHC engine is probably a 7.3L, 444 CID.
Thin tube headers won't work with a turbo. They can't handle the heat or the weight.

cool thanks for the reponses so far,
since this is a super budget oriented project, ill probably use the stock manifolds, but where would i be able to find "thick" exhaust tubing, that wont melt from the heat of the turbo.
me>you- what do you mean by that, i plan on blowing off most of the boost through a valve- keep in mind this is somewhat of a joke, i want it to sound like a hurricane. i dont care what it realy runs lol
