I think the flipped lid is supposed to let more air in because we all know how restrictive the stock TBI inlet is. I wouldn't do it though --- ghetto, minimal gains, chance of some debri going through the TB, etc.
Good logic, but who in their right mind says,
:RedneckVoice: "Hey lets throw that there leaf blower on this here Camaro and watch her run real fast, like them duke of hazard boys. Hardy Har." :RedneckVoice:
I had an '84 pontiac parisienne (caprice)... 305 w/ Q-Jet. I flipped the air lid... The lid on mine was lipped...so the inner circle of the lip (when flipped upside down) would still make a semi-decent seal with the inside of the air filter wall. Soooo, believe it or not, it was able to suck air down directly into the filter. Not a dramatic performance increase, no, but it was better then it running through the big hose. :-P
It also made a cool suctiony noise, as he described... well worth every "penny".
No, I'm not justifying redneck logic. But it was fun at the time.

doesnt that upside dow lid cancel out lmsot any of the pressureised air that is being forced into the intake by the leaf blower?
i mean if the leaf blower is forcing air down in therre through the hose wouldnt all the pressure escape from the gap ?
if he flipped the lid back over to make a seal.... if the thing worked at all... it would work 10x better wouldnt it?
