running the 7004r without lock up

I have a 27 spline 700r4 that is going behind a big block. The problem iam having is that iam not running the lock up, And all the converters I find for the 27 spline 700r4 use the lock up, so what will happen if I get a 3000 stall and not use the lock up feature.
Thanks Mike

You could possibly overheat and glaze the frictions if you do a long WOT run without a good cooler.

Why run without a lock-up? The benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

Summit sells a lockup for use with a carb. Not a stock 700 i hope.

The problem with no lock up isn't when you are driving normally. But when you are on it hard for extended periods of time. Such as autocross, back to back drag racing, or road courses. Or just plain old highway blasts. Its heats up the transmission like crazy, a good external trans cooler is a must!
