Need Help Quick
Need Help Quick
drive a 88 camaro, 305, TBI, 5 speed. I live on a small Island in Atlantic Canada.
My fan for the engine doesnt turn on by itself, and the last owner just made the switch for it through the headlights. So the headlights always have to be turned on, and the fan is always on. Now this is a problem at night, when i wanna park somewhere, i don't want to have to leave the headlights on, and with the fan constantly blowing, the car starts to get cold inside too.
Anyways. Its about -20 degrees celcius on any given night, im wondering if the car could sit at idle, without need of the fan? Will it overheat, and what will it do when it overheats?
And if anyone knows, how do i relocate a switch, or get some type of sensor so the fan knows when to turn itself on, this is getting annoying, this is the only reason why i wish i had my berettas.

Re: Need Help Quick
The original fan switch probably went bad. It shouldn't be hard to fix, depending on how much the previous owner hacked up the wiring. A new fan swtich should be pretty cheap from the local parts store.
You could also rig the fans up to a switch inside the car, so you can turn them on whenever you need to.

Re: Need Help Quick
This should be on some FAQ page, since the same Q's been asked like 10 times this week. The fan switch between cylinder 6 & 8 tells the fan when to come on, and the stock switch will tell the fan to come on at about 226*, so getting a lower temp switch would help too. then just connect the wire to it and fill the cooling system back up.
