Running on 6 cylinders

I had to swap my intake do to ...... some unplesentness. No big deal. The motor runs and sound like a go cart. When I pulled the destributor I mad sur not to spin it or anything. Also, whil the engine is running, I can pull the #1 and #8 sparkplug wires off and the stumbleing and shakeing doesn't change. Whats the problem guys?

You sure the wires aren't broke? I would get a know good wire and hook it up to a spark plug and ground the thread section of the plug and see if it sparks. If it does, the wires are bad. If not, it probably is the distributor.

This is assuming you got the timing right.

you sure the lobe just isn't worn off your cam??? find out if the things are sparting first... lick your fingers and stick one on the hot manifold... and the other inside the distributer wire end
Seriously though check to make sure it is electrical.. Then start to screw around with your wires..

You sure you didn't get it started right on #1 Maybe you are just 1 plug off on the distributor? Maybe your #1 plug is not plugged into #1 when the distributor was removed?

You could've of messed up your firing order.

Take a spray bottle of water and spray your wires, then take a screwdriver and start at one end of each wire and work your way down. It will find the cracks for you.

You will need to set the #1 at TDC on the intake stroke. At that point, you will set your distributor to as close to the #1 terminal as possible so that the rotor contacts the #1 post.

Make sure the wires are good, firing order is correct, timing is correct, if that is good you could have a bad vacuum leak on the intake install, that can cause a bad miss that removing the plug wires won't have any affect on.
