Remove oil pressure sensor??

Friends,

I am planning on hooking up a new mechanical oil pressure gauge since mine has gone out. I am trying and trying to get in there behind the manifold and can't seem to reach the nut. Is there a secret? I have obviously already removed the vanity cover over the distributor cap, but reaching down to get the oil sending unit off it very hard.

Do I remove the distributor? Gee, I hope not...
HELP!!!!

What's the best way to do this on a 305 TPI car...?

From what I've seen, you might be better off removing the runner on the driver side. It looks like it may be blocking the access to the plug. At least from what I've seen.

Hope that helps

Are you serious? that looks really challenging. Maybe i'm missing something, but this should NOT be that hard....

Doesn't SOMEBODY have a trick for me?

it is very simple to pull it off it is on the driver side right by the firewall and it only takes about 5 mins but you have to put a T in there because you have to have that electric sending unit or your car will not run

my car runs without the electric sending unit, it may depend on the year, but I do NOT have an electrical oil pressure guage, that spot is only to give the guage a reading.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate all your feedback. I understand that an 87 will run without a sending unit. I will just poke my mechaninal in there.

I know where it is located, I am having trouble getting a wrench down around it (anybody know the size, 13MM??) . I guess what I'm saying is that i'm really just asking about the 'pull it off ; part, cause it doesn't seem that easy to reach. I'll try pulling the rail off and see what happens.

More later.

Thanks,

Brian.

if you can touch the bottom of the distributor, you should have no problem getting to the oil pressure, sorry, I don't know the size for the stock sender, but i think it's smaller than 13MM, I'm surprised you can't see it, it may be a 10MM they use that on EVERYTHING that's small
