Recommended Carburetor?

I have an '89 Z28 with a 350 in it, and it still has the stock carburetor. I wanted some opinions on which aftermarket carburetor I should buy. I'm not looking for anything way too expensive, but for a reasonable price, I was wondering which performance carburetor would be the best for my car.

Thanks for the help,
Mason

Re: Recommended Carburetor?

It really depends on the rest of the setup, What cam and heads are you running? If it's stock a 570cfm holley street avenger or 600cfm edelbrock would be fine. If you plan on doing anything to it, or it's a mild street/strip motor a 670 holley street avenger or a 650cfm edelbrock would be perfect. I personally like the Holley's more then the edelbrock's but the choice is yours there.

Great, thanks. When I get around to buying it I'll probably go with the 670 Holley.

Thanks again.

I have the 670 on my 350 I love it, big difference over the edelbrock I had.

Re: Recommended Carburetor?

If you like tinkering with the carb for different conditionsm use an Edelbrock, which is basically a Carter AFB. If not, use a Holley. In both cases you want 750 cfm, and stay away from mechanical secondaries. Beyond that, just shop around. You can also consider a used one with a rebuild kit. You can buy this carb cleaner setup at an autoparts store. It's a bucket of cleaner with a sort of collander thing with a handle that lets you dunk the parts.

Don't get the 670, just get a nice 650 VS and put the quick spring change kit in - MUCH CHEAPER. And it's the same thing. Holley is making $$$ on the 670 thanks to their marketing department - NOT their engineering department as it's the same carb.
