rear end question

I've got an 87 IROC with the TPI 305 and a T-5 trany...i was wondering what size the gear was and what i sould go with that would give me improved acceleration without sacraficing too much top end speed/gas milage...thanks

3.73's would be a good compromise gear. There is an awesome thread about it, started by Ville H. Check it out. Also, for what gears you've got, check your RPO's and run them at www.ThirdGen.Org

4.10s are obnoxious. Stay clear of them unless your car is a drag only car.

I don't know about a 6 speed but do you use all your gears in city driving? If not, your RPM will be higher than you need it to be.
