Rear End

Heya, I have an 88 Z with a non-posi rear end. I wanted to change it out, but a friend told me that it might just be easier to switch it over to a posi gearing instead of dropping out the old and putting in the new. Any input? Thanks, Andy

I did the whole rear from 2.73 non posi drum to 3.42 posi disc and Im real glad I did. 3.73s would have been nice, but I got the rear for $325 and gears would have been $100 used, $100 for a posi and then ~$150 for install, where as I did the rear myself. Plus the rear discs on a 91 rs just look real good

Aka Posi is Gm's name for a Limited Slip rear. One and the same.

Well you could open it up to check or just check the RPO codes located on your console lid. Check for RPO G80 is the code for the Limited Slip
