Rear Axel Seal/Bearing Q 90 FB
Her left rear axel is leaking oil all over the rear brakes. it is definately diff fluid.
looks like the seal needs to be replaced, but how exactly do i go about this
tried reading the chiltons book but it was unclear. does the rear diff cover have to come off to pop a clip off the axel? are there 4 bolts that hold the axel in and just remove them? does the seal pop out with a seal puller? or should a bearing and seal be done in a kit?
car has 120k on it
3.1 V6
any tips/advice appreciated
Thanks

Re: Rear Axel Seal/Bearing Q 90 FB
As long as you have to go to the trouble of doing this, I would do the bearing as well. And both sides.
You have to pull the diff. cover and remove the carrier shaft so you can push the axles inboard to remove the "C" clips. You can then pull the axles. The cover plate with the 4 screws only holds the seal and bearing in, not the axle.
