I am aware of the restrictors used in racing. Having some first hand experience with a late model dirt track car, I've seen them. However, they are used in a RACE engine that is WOT 90% of the time, running constant high rpm at high HP levels. And this relates to street driving how?

BTW - Those hot spots you refer to are created from LACK of coolant flow, or lack of system pressure. NOT excessive flow...

Too lazy to pull your thermo out and find out real world results yourself? Go to a drag strip sometime and locate a few guys with expensive engines in quick cars that occassionally run on the street. You won't find a thermostat in their engine, or any restrictors. Why would they gamble their expensive engine over a cheap part?
