questions about my 92 firebird

im having a hard time getting it to turn over. the starter has no power when the key is on. the fuel pump has no power either. i put a new ignition switch in and no deal. so im just wondering if you know what u think i should do????? the starter can be jumped from battery but wont fire up also.

May be a bit far fetched, but the key itself may be the problem. If the resistor in the key is the problem you will get the same results. (or lack of)

did you try cleaning the battery terminals? or possibly replacing the cables? its not the chip in the key.. it wouldn't turn over at all.

I have a 92 Firebird Formula and i believe i had the same problem as you do. But my key would turn over and not crank so it ended up being my cables were too loose on the battery. So i would suggest checking for excessive corrosion on the terminals and/or tightening the battery cables up. I hope i helped
