Question... Kinda stupid tho, so prepare!!! Door help?

The 3rd gen I am probably going to buy here in the next couple of weeks will need a lot of TLC. The body is fairly straight, the engine needs work (Not really sure what is wrong yet), and it needs paint. I am getting the car for a steal, and I am going to fix it up and put my girlfriend in it. This is beside the point... ^^

But on the passanger side door, where the key hole is, it has been drilled out, leaving a hole larger than stock. I have never seen this before, so I'm not really sure what to do - do I buy a whole new p. side door? Do I buy a door skin? Do I make an attept to repair it with bondo and fiberglass? lol, The first two sound like what is the best bet... But as I stated, I want to know what YOU would do... On a limited budget mind you.

If I get this car, it'll be my second f-body to own at once... And I plan on buying a 4th gen Z28 soon, which will account for my 3rd. If I get it I may just have to start a family photo album. I think it'd be kool to have a pic of a 2nd, third, and 4th gen all sitting right next to each other with custom paint, and interior... NewayZ. Thanx for your time, and sorry bout the post -

ThanX,
Extreme

Go to a salvage yard, and pick up another door. If your lucky you could find one the right color. The door will be cheaper than having someone try to fix that one.

See, I work at an autobody shop... We dun really do major repairs, but dents, dings, and mostly just custom paint, and stock resprays. We plan on repainting this car in a custom color... I am hoping for orange and black... She is looking at some blues, and some yellows.

ALSO, something I failed to mention is that it has auto doorlocks, and manual windows... Heh, so this may just add difficulties to the mix, but I think the rewards of doing this job well will be good. A job well done is always applauded by people from all walks of life. I enjoy the looks and comments I get on my car, and hope to get the same from this one.

ThanX again,
Extreme

Bralgar had the right idea go to the junk yard & get a new door since you are planing on painting the car in the first place it will not matter if you get a missed matched door.
When taking the old door off Make sure you dont cut any of the wiring its a PITA but take the wiring out of the door. put the new one on & just run the wiring back through. the only problem you are going to find is Finding a door with Power locks & the manual windows

What you can do is get a used door and you can transfer any parts needed from the damaged door into the used one you are puting on. You don't necesarily need a door with power locks, etc. Just my .02.

Oh, and one more thing, 82-84 doors are slightly different than 85-92 doors with regard to the glass run channel/filler(the triangular peice in front of the door glass). I would make sure you get the apropriate door for your year Camaro so there are no problems.
