Question Question on Gapping the spark plugs i just bought

Hi guys,

I am wondering what i should gap my plugs to i bought for my 1988 GTA 305 TPI. I bought some AC Delco Rapidfires and i was wondering if i can gap them bigger than normal? I have a Hypertech Coil and a Hypertech Cap and rotar. Would this allow me to gap the plugs bigger and if so, what would be a safe gap? Thanks

Chris

I have an 89 T/A 305 tpi and also use AC Rapidfires. The gap suggested for my car with ordinary plugs is .035" but because of the Rapidfire design, they're supposed to be set to .045". This is with a stock ignition system. Rapidfires are often recommended over other brands. You should like them.

Larger gaps are fine (TO A POINT, that is) if you have better than stock ignition pieces. I ran 0.045 all day with my Accel coil
