Question about nitrous oxide

I plan on getting a Nitrous Oxide System kit soon for my camaro.

I have a BRAND NEW 9C1 LO5 5.7 which has 9.6:1 compression, lt1/lt4 rods, hypertunetic pistons. Will a 75-100 shot be safe? should i get a MSD box with a rev limiter just to be safe? This motor is brand new so i dont want to damage it.

you just answered your own question.

typically N2O is safe, it's the people using it that cause problems. just read up thoroughly before you make your decision.

People go cheap on a nitrous oxide system and don't put in all the safety systems they should.
Also there high matence compaired to other things like a cars fuel or exhaust system.

Just remember that Nitrous Oxide will cut the life of your engine down, just as all major performance modifications will. Its a see-saw...as your performance goes up the reliability of the car goes down. But I dont mind spending time under the hood so up goes the see-saw

should be alright. I definately wouldnt go any higher then 100hp with the Hyper pistons. MSD is always good insurance in any condition. Call James or Tony at TnT and they can help you out with anything you need.

Unless the engine is old and worn out, they should all be able to take a 100hp shot.

When installing the kit make sure the NOS can't be activated unless the throttle is at WOT only. You'll also need to use at least 91 octane fuel when you use the NOS. Anything less can cause detonation.

NOS doesn't hurt an engine. The lack of fuel to feed the NOS does the damage. NOS is oxygen rich. All that extra oxygen can make a very lean condition so the extra fuel is required to make up for it. Extra fuel burning makes more HP. Running lean will melt parts. If in doubt, run richer fuel jets in the NOS system.

A better ignition system like MSD is recommended. The better system will keep the spark plugs firing when that NOS mixture hits the cylinders.

I'm beyond happy with my Nitrous Express kit. Quality is top notch and their jet sizes and ratings seem to be spot on(at the wheels)..

I've run about 4 bottles through my 305 engine with the 100HP pills and 1 bottle with the 150 pills he he, Added more timing tonight from the 7 degrees that were taken out and the bottle is full again. We'll see how it is tomorrow Hopefully it can hang with a friend of mine's Trans Am with a stage 2 ARE head/cam package...hahahaha sweet!

PS, running the LT1 Wet kit on my TPI system worked perfectly. All you do is plumb the Shark Nozzle into the MAF sensor on the engine side of the Heated wire. Goodluck!
