Bulletproof 700R4....maybe....need recommendations.

Hey guys,

I am fixing to have a local shop refresh my 700 R4. What are the latest goodies that are necessary for 700R4's to live? I am looking at the .500 boost valve, .291 low/reverse valve, bilit servos, 29 element sprag, 5 pinion gear planitaries, and a 13 vane pump kit. I plan on all this plus a good rebuild kit with good clutches and seals.

What else is necessary?

Engine is about 400hp/400 tque in a 4000# s-10 Blazer with 4.10 gears. It sees mostly strip duty.

What are they charging you for this & what kind of warranty do you get?

rebuild

I talked to the guy the other day. He has built the 700R4 (about 4 years ago) that is in my blazer now. It has about 50k miles and over 100 quarter mile passes....(counted timeslips) I asked him what he would charge me to build a spare I have since my blazer one is about to go.....(doesn't want to shift from 2nd to 3rd anymore at WOT)...... He said he had some redline clutches and a few other hipo parts he wasn't going to use and would do my spare tranny for a couple of hundred bucks....... I think he is cutting me a deal cause the one in my 97 chevy fullsize (4L60E) he gets about $1200. I just bought this one from him about 6 months ago. He initially charged my about $750 for the tranny rebuild in my Blazer and gave me a 6 month warranty....which wasn't too bad considering he and I both knew what it was going in......

This time I am going to buy the hipo hard parts he doesn't have, and he is going to build up my tranny...... then I can just swap it out with the one in my Blazer now. I am going to reuse my PI 9 1/2" vigalante lockup converter. I really like that converter!.......
