Question about Gas guage sending unit...
My gas guage sending unit is broken on my 1990 Z28 Camaro, the guage meter is stuck past full, i took it down to the mechanic and the mechanic was saying it's going to cost 500 dollars for the fuel pump sending unit, i was looking around on ebay, and saw gas guage sending units for other cars for only 20-100 dollars max, couldn't find any for the 1990 camaro though, does anyone know how much one of these would run for?
I decided im going to do it myself, the mechanic was wanting 900 dollars for the full job including the part.
just need a quote on how much the gas guage sending unit price would be around new or used, thanks.

Re: Question about Gas guage sending unit...
It looks like you need assembly P/N 25027221`. Check with Dal at Van Devere Oldsmobile's internet parts department for some great savings. In order to change that part, you'll need to drop your tank. I don't have any experience with pulling an F-body gas tank though I will by the end of winter. Could anyone respond with some ideas on how easy / hard it is to remove the tank? I cannot imagine it's THAT hard, though you'll want to empty the tank of most fuel first. You'll probably have to remove the exhaust system, and you MIGHT have to yank out the axle assembly. That's the way I'll be doing mine this winter.
Re: Question about Gas guage sending unit...
Mine has been the same way for about a year. I don't think you need to remove the exhaust or rear end. I know it’s not the easiest thing in the world though. I've been waiting until I buy a aftermarket fuel pump. Mine is well upgrade while you've got it down. I've see posts on it before but don't remember where.
