Question about fuel pump...
hey, just wanted to ask you guys a quick question about putting in a high output fuel pump. My car is pretty much stock right now and i am planning on putting in some mods later on as i get cash.... but the problem im having right now is that my fuel pump is crapping out on me and i probably need to get a new one, do u think it would hurt the car at all if i was running a holley, walbro or any other high output pump on a stock setup until i do my mods?
also since we are in the topic of fuel pumps, is there anybody that has a high output fuel pump for sale right now for not too much, on a budget here...
thanks for any help this

A very capable very high quality unit that I'm running is a Bosch in-tank pump that is capable of handling up to 550hp. I purchased mine for around $180 from TPIS. Very nice unit, and a lot more reliable than a junk Walbro one, that so many seem to rave about. I guess the cheap price blinds many to the overall quality and reliability.
If I had it to do all over again, I'd do the exact same thing I did. I know quite a few people that have this Bosch pump...and it works flawlessly for them.
Also...to answer your question, running a high performance fuel pump won't pose any problems for a stock set-up. Not that I'm aware of, at least.
Good luck!

I'm running a Carter electric fuel pump on my Z-28 with minor mods and it's never given me a problem. It's mounted on the rear underside of the car and is wired to the come on when the ignition comes on (like standard).
thanks for some clarification on this topic, i always thought that it was ok to run a higher output fuel pump on a stock system anyways cause any gas not used goes back to the tank anyways... i never thought about the bosch pump, cause everybody talks about the holley, walbro, edelbrock and a few others. Im thinking about getting the high flow pump together with an adj. press. regulator, and get the maximum out of these stock injectors, but ill probably have to replace those as well with 24# or 30# ones. oh man it just never ends...
