Quadrajet Leaking?

I bought a quadrajet from a guy who was parting out his car. He said it was rebuilt it a few months before I bought it(bought it Jan. 04). Anyway, it ran fine when the car was in my backyard, but this past weekend, the first time I tried to drive it again, the carb decided it was going to start overfilling. I'm running ~4.5-5 fuel psi and when the fuel pump is on gas is dripping out of both sides of the carb, and I assume more gas is trickling down into the intake. The engine will start up and run, but won't start up after turning it off unless I let it sit for a couple hours which leads me to believe the carb is flooding the engine. We took apart the carb and and made sure that the float and needle were freely moving and they are, not sure what else could be the problem. Anyone else had this problem? I'm trying to keep from having to fork out the ~160 for a holley spreadbore, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Maybe the float is bad, and soaking up the gas. Try simply replacing the float, and see what happens.
