Put on new carb = OMG

My carb was going to **** so i bought a really well maintained holley 4160 from a guy on ebay for $70. I also was talking to Kuruption562 the other day about adjusting his TV cable and decided to do mine just for the heck of it..it was a little off anyways. Well holy ****...while I was pulling out of autozone..some cars were comming and i BARELY got on it and i was fishing all over the damn place! Then i was out on the highway and i needed to get over a few lanes..and some dumbass 4.6L mustang with a cowl hood wouldnt let me over, so i gunned it..and of course so did he. with a carload of my belongings weighting my car down (i was moving at the time lol) i swear i put 2-3 cars on the dude in just a few seconds.

moral of the story, good running carb + proper TV cable adjustment = omfg.

Car is a LG4 87 Z28. im so happy with it right now

well my engine was rebuilt back in 97 and has 45k miles on it. Other than that it has headers, accel distributor and wires, holley 4160 4 barrel, and a edelbrock performer intake.

Biggest thing though was my TV cable was way out of adjustment so sometimes id floor it and it just wouldnt move. Now anytime when i get on it, it pulls like a bat out of hell..and especially on the highway. plus my 1st gear just rips now.

What the hell is a TV cable? I thought you literally meant a Television cable, lol.
BTW Dirt, I already looked at that post a lil while back.
What does a Boost Valve do?

Its the throttle valve cable, it controls the shift points, line pressure, etc.

the boost valve increases the pressure way over the OEM valve and gives you better more firm shifts.

Throttle Valve must be for a Auto, correct?
Is that what is connected to the thing that when you depress the throttle, it moves the thing under the hood, increasing RPM?
My dad's Crown Vicky's tranny is shot because of s0me damned thing hooked-up to the thing under the hood, and when you depress the accelerator, it would make this thing hooked up to something to do w/ the throttle, move.
What "Valve" are we talking about, regarding Boost Valve?

the boost valve goes inside the tranny that helps determine the line press. that the tranny sees at the 1-2 shift. the throttle valve cable is the other cable on the throttle lever that gets pulled when the gas pedel is pushed. it tells the tranny if your just barely hitting the gas, or getting on it heavy. so the trans can determine when to shift and how much press. to shift at.

a trans shop is your best bet since you dont know about the tv cable. if its adj. wrong, your tranny can burnup. as in ovrheat and slip.

Older Crown Vic? 5.0 engine? They had problems with the TV bushing deteriorating. GMs dont use bushings.

Yes, a '91 Crown Vicky, 302 Interceptor car.
The bushing was indeed deteriorated, lol.
What does GM use instead of Bushings?
