proper way to hardwire fan?
i just read that today the very last camaro ever to be made came off the assembly line,gm said that more people are driving suv's.........huh,kind of made me sad.ahhhhh f*** em we all know whats up,hahaha anyway does anyone know the proper way to hardwire my single motor fan to my ignition?on an 84 z28
I had a friend of mine wire my stock dual fans to a switch in my car. Ignition isn't a good idea really because on the highway, the fans aren't needed at all. and they pull a LOT of power! If you had your fans on, AC at full blast, headlights on, and a powerfull radio, you might have some charging problems. I have problems with all that minus the radio part(at lower engine speeds anyways). The stock relay can be used in line with the switch also. Goodluck! Doing that and a 180 thermostat will keep that engine as cool as can be even on a 100 degree day in traffic!@

I had a man. sw. only for a while and let me tell you thats not the way to go. I forgot to turn it on more then a few times. cause you dont want it on whenthe eng. is cold cause that would prolong warmup and Id just forget to turn it on sometimes.
so i recomend a auto-control fan sw. from summit. mine was around $25 or so so they arent exp. you need about 6 feet of 10 gauge wire, an inline fuse, a relay to control the fan, a toggle sw. to control the relay and a auto-control sw. to also turn on the fans when it reaches the temp you set it at.
that is how I have it on mine now and it rocks. my car stays between 180 and 170 now all by itself. and when Im at the track, I can still turn it on to cool the eng. between runs.
