Posi from 83 rear to 87 rear?

My car currently has a drum brake open dif 3.42 code 4HL. I have a disk brake posi 3.23 rear from an 83 camaro (4PZ code). I was wondering if it is possible to swap the brakes and diff over to my current rearend (keeping 3.42 ring gear) so I can keep the same lower gear ratio but have posi and disk brakes? I'm not going to run into an axle spline issue am I?

As long as they're both 10-bolts you shouldnt have a problem.

That wasn't until 1989.

3.23+ is 3 series so you're good there.

Brakes--You'll need to do some cutting/grinding of the axle flanges but nothing too difficult.

I thought it was 87 and up that they changed over? Not entirely sure but I don't think it was in 89.

Axle splines was definitely in '89 going from 26 to 28.

'87+ was hydraulic roller, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Talking go for it man

Ya they should inter change fine but as already stated you may have a bit of grinding to do with the drum to disc swap......

Good luck .......

Or being rear end related, in '87 I believe the 9 bolt was introduced to the F cars as the performance rear.
