Polishing a Stealth Ram
Polishing a Stealth Ram
I am rather bored right now, flipping through Summit and saw the Stealth Ram. My question is, if you wanted the polished look, couldn't you polish it yourself for well under the $250 increase? I don't know, I'm just curious as to why someone would spend and extra 250 for something they could do for......less.
You could do it but it would be highly time consuming. They figure they can charge $250 for the hours of work it will take with sandpaper, Dremel, and polishing bits.
I'd guesstimate that you could do it yourself for like $50 or so....it's just gonna take a few nights of work.

I polished my OEM TPI plenum after I knocked down the egr barriers and as much interior metal as I could, and bored it out to 52mm to match the T-Body Which I had a bro at a machine shop bore out to 52mm.
I used 52mm throttle plates from GM 3.1Liter v6s (perfect fit.)
I used a metal polish called simichrome and many hours of labor.
I didn't polish the runners very well, I lost interest in them when the shine brought out all the dents.
I went down to 600 or so grit, but 2000 will get one hell of a shine!!
At $50/hr, $250 is money well spent.
