I have a 1989 GTA transam L98 TPI.When I try to give the car gas , it sputters and occasionally backfires out of the throttle body.If I try to drive the car it does the same thing from a stand still and while trying to drive. I changed the fuel filter.I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge at the fuel rail and only had 26lbs of fuel pressure.I tried to use my AFPR to boost pressure and nothing happened on the gauge ,still the same reading.So I tried to adjust the fuel pressue as far down as it would go and still no change.I have heard the AFPR won't go down that low any way? but I tried just to see If it would go below 26. The fuel pump relay is new,and I have no engine codes.What could be wrong?maybe fuel pump?Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you for any help

I had the same problem exactly. It was the fuel pump.
