Spot 1: The piece behind the pulley in the middle, replace or no? name of said peice?
http://www.imagemagician.org/images/...f/DSC00035.JPG

Spot 2: This is where my coolant goes in I know, Replace? name?
http://www.imagemagician.org/images/...f/DSC00037.JPG

Spot 3: What is this thing? It looks like it was just rigged up to blow air on the engine.
http://www.imagemagician.org/images/...f/DSC00039.JPG

Spot 4: These 2 spots a problem?
http://www.imagemagician.org/images/...f/DSC00041.JPG

Spot 5: What is this?

Spot 6: Again, what is this?

I posted an engine pick almost a year ago with the engine in this shape, never got off the ground repairing it, now I got a machanic I can trust and brand new wheels and tires on it.

So opinions? If u need better pics or see somethign else, let me know.

Thanks.

1: water pump. you dont need a new one unless you are having problems over heating or if it is leaking out of the "weep hole" on the bottom.

2: thermostat housing/water neck. unless it leaks, its fine.

3: blower motor for heat/defroster. you say it looks rigged up? does your heat/defroster work? if they do, then leave it alone.

4: A.I.R. tubes going to the manifolds or your brake lines, you kinda have them both in the pictures. the A.I.R. tubes(for smog/emissions) are the smooth ones, the brake lines are the ones that are wrapped in wire so they look like a big spring or coil. usually they dont cause problems unless they are visibly cracked. if they were, you could feel exhaust shooting out or you would see brake fluid dripping.

5: brake master cylinder

6: i dont know what this is. maybe your windshield wiper motor?

I have no heat and defroster as the guy before me hooked the heat/ac control up to make the coolant flow at engine start.

you probably need to get ahold of some wiring diagrams/schematics to see how it was supposed to be originally. someone might be able to send you them online or you could look in a manual.

What do you mean make the coolant flow at start up? The first picture there, the water pump is what makes the coolant flow....

First off on electronics, check the fuses.

Heater defroster was removed, if the heater control isnt set on whatever its on now the engine overheats on idle, so maybe its the radiator fan? I dunno, I found out the hard way at emissions 6 years ago as the radiator side melted and spewed all over the floor. People sure ran like **** thinking it was gass tho! lol

RSN, I dont care how it was before cuz I dont plan on putting a heater in it, but since i have no heating system and have a plate bolted over where the air would enter the vents, is that something I can just remove by unbolting or is it needed in another way with the electrical wiring?

that ya did and i repect that! just remember that cuz if you ever stuck the thermo pointing upwards it'd never sense the heat of the coolant in the engine and you'd really have overheating problems.

Are u talking, if I were to install the thermostat myself? So what does the thermo activate? the fan on the radiator?

The thermostat opens to let coolant flow through the hose. It sits inside the waterneck there. No coolant flow means the radiator doesn't cool it.

I'm not really sure what you're asking here. Are you asking if you can remove everything having to do with the heating system like the blower motor without affecting how the engine runs? If so, yes you can.

so with no thermo it jsut flows freely?

I guess its the radiator fan hooked to the heating controls.
