A new engine with your kind of camshaft needs to be "broken in" the VERY first time it's started. Immediately, after the break in time, change oil/filter, etc.

But there is nothing special about starting it right? I just start it like normal, hold it about 2-3k rpms for 30 minutes, and wool-ah?

Pre-Lubing the engine or "Priming" the oil pump is reccomended as well as filling the oil filter up with oil before starting.

A Priming rod goes into the distributor hole, you attach a drill motor that spins clockwise, the rod enguages the oil pump and as it spins it builds oil pressure and sends oil all over inside, etc. Then put the distributor back in and start your break-in.
