PAINT REMOVAL from bumper
PAINT REMOVAL from bumper
I have a good front bumper that I want to put on my car, but the paint on it is all cracked and I can't figure out a way to get the paint off, I tried two kinds of paint remover on the back to see if it would damage it and it melted the bumper, so i can't use that. I tried sanding and I don't want to scratch the bumper and I don't want it to take 2 years, any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks everyone!

if anyone can answer this id be very interested as well. I am most likely going to be getting a used front bumper cover soon and it will need to be repainted to match my car. I'm curios as to how a professional car painters would go about getting the previous paint off?
I hope some one has a good answer to this one. In the past I've used a DA on low spent hours striping 4 layers of paint of a nose once not fun. There are some arisol flexible bumper stripers out there though I've yet to try them.
PS don't be like me and strip the whole nose then be so tired and zoned out from sanding that you forget to add the flex agent when you mix up the primer. If you check out my link bellow that's why I've got a standard nose on instead of the original GFX nose. I hate doing things twice

It's not hard at all. I just sanded the sucker down. I think I used 220 (might be wrong it was months ago). Took about 2-3 hrs with a hand sander. Dry, not wet sanding. Then just primered and painted it. And you're talking about the lower piece, sometimes referred to as "air dam" right?
