oil pressure sending unit

oil pressure sending unit

Do I have to drain the oil when I change this?

You don't have to but your likely to get a bit of oil on ya if ya don't. It's not under pressure but oil will leak out.

I wouldn't, unless you're changing the oil anyway. You can't drain the oil galleries in the block without taking off the filter, so you would still get oil on your arm.

I believe the sender is above the filter. It is a tube like thing with a couple of wires coming out of it. You could take it out with some dribble but not a whole lot. You might do it during your oil change if you like.
