oil leak help

oil leak help

my motor (454) did not leak a drop of oil after break in. i change the oil and now it leak around the filter housing. same filter same oil. i chaned filter from fram to napa and not it leaks even worse... it looks like its coming from the filter like its not seling up to the block..... it leake like 2qts in a min or less now

make sure that seal is on there correct and make sure you lube it before you put it on. if that dont work try another make filter beats the hell out of me

I have a similar situation. I wonder if mine is cracked as well? Is that part replaceable or is it part of the block?? What pisses me off is the fact that this is a remaned block put in not too long ago.

Do you have an oil cooler? The oil cooler is sandwiched betewen the block and the filter. If you didn't have a cooler, the filter would just mate to the block. You sure it isn't coming from between the cooler and the block instead of the filter to the cooler, if you have a cooler, that is.

I'm 99% sure I don't have a cooler. I'm 99% sure that it mates directly to the block. If these cars did not come stock with them then for sure I don't have one cause I never put one on. I'll have to take a better look at it when I get my car back up on the jackstands to make sure it isn't coming from above the filter somewhere and just running down.

Look immediately above the oil filter in the direction of the front of the engine. If there are 2 hoses there then you have the cooler.
