Odd "ticking" noise at super low speed
Well, its when I take off. If I roll off really slowly, i hear this ticking that gets faster as the car picks up speed. It disappears very soon, usually before the car even hits 5mph. This is true in both reverse and drive. I noticed when the tranny was rebuilt that the flywheel cover was removed and not replaced. Would this allow sounds to be heard that are not normally?
What else could it be? Anyone experience this? Its definitely coming from the underside of the car and not really from the engine compartment.
Thanks fellas
Will

Could it be an exhaust leak? Those have a habit of making a ticking sound. The flexplate shield should not do that much for sound muffling. You could get a new one and see if it helps.
You could do the following but at your own risk.
Jack the rear of the car up and put it on jackstands on both sides of the axle. Put chocks on both front tires and on both sides of the tire. Have someone run the car and see if you can crawl under it and hear anything. Also have then engage the gear and see what you hear.
