Now What?

I got turned the corner bustin a right gettin onto my street after about 15-20 minutes of driving this morning. As i turned right i stepped on it kinda hard, i had the normal torque then i seen/heard my RMPs about 2-3 seconds later and they was redline like at 6500 so i let the gas go then i stepped on it a little and all it would do is Revv in Drive. I got it home then i turned it off, turned it back on still didnt work. In Reverse & Drive all it will do is rev. It will barely move when it hits like 3500 RPMs. iS MY TRANNY GONE?

you may have just lost od (D) try 1 2 or D you can drive it like that if it does, but just dont put youself in a position when you have to back up

my trtanny went in august right after i paid tuition. but turned out i just lost od, i could live with 10mpg if i have to so i just drove around in D for awhile, then i found out the car would do OD as long as i was in 4th, so when i hit 100kmph i go into od, if i need to pass i go into D

used trannys from the scrap yard for a 700r4 are 400$canadian, just unbolt the old one and swap this one in if you can. if not my mehanic was gonna charge me 300$cad to do it

90 day warranty on the trans

You might want to have a pressure test done at a tranny shop like "I.T.".. You might have just fried the torque convertor or the pump, pumps run about $60 and if it's just the converter you can go ahead and get a stall convertor.
Have them test it, then take it home and decide what to do...

Pull the pan and see what is in the bottom. If it is metal chips, kiss the tranny goodbye and go get a rebuild.

Sounds like your torque convertor is junk or your pump went bad OR you are out of tranny fluid. You say it has to be at about 3500 rpm for it to move? Thats a sign of not enough pressure. Which is related to all 3 things I mentioned above.

My cousin's S10 did almost the same thing, it took at least 3000 rpm's just to get it to creep into the garage.
We rebuilt the 700r4, but the problem was the same. Then we replaced the torque convertor and BAM! problem solved...
