Not able to start car
Not able to start car
I just got my 1983Z today since my last one was stolen a month ago, and everything was runnung great until I went to start it tonight. I had a Viper car alarm installed on it so when i disarmed it to get in and started the car it was dead, and a billow of smoke came out from the right upper corner of the engine. I have power to the lights and the dome light but no stereo, instrument panel, locks, the alarm itself, and the engine wont even turn over. I have no clue whats wrong other than the alarm sys was wired wrong and it burned out while armed or it burned out something else. I am new to the board but would greatly appriciate anyones tips of suggestions of what might be wrong and what I need to do to get back out on the road again
thanks Justin

Well I had a guy from circuit city come and check out the alarm problem. It looks like installing the alarm fried some wires in the car. We couldnt get it running because there is something wrong with the wires leading into the egnition and the volts are not making it through to power it. I am having it towed to the local chevy dealer to have it repaired, hopefully it wont be a ton of money to fix and I will be out on the road again soon.
