no start condition after warm-up

no start condition after warm-up

89 iroc 350 tpi automatic...after the car warms up if you cut it off it wont start back up until its completely cooled...or if you drive it the car will surge a few times and cut off but it will start back up in that situation...fuel pump is fine...theres fire at the plugs...injectors are getting pulse from computer...any ideas ?i think it might be a wiring harness issue but why it only does it when the car warms up...i have no idea

check the starter solenoid

it should have a heat sheild because when it gets hot it doesnt work, the heat sheild prevents it from getting too hot, when it cools down it works fine

if u dont have a heat sheild or the one u have is rusted, u can pick up a replacement at any auto parts store

My Z is doing the same thing - my buddy and I suspect that a module in distributor is going bad. I've got an MSD distributor coming as part of my planned HSR swap, but you should be able to get the module at the local parts store - if that is your problem.

When you say it doesn't start, what do you mean? Will is not crank? Crank slowly? Crank fine, but not catch?

A very common problem with small block Chevys. The cause is heat soak to the starter solenoid. Replace it and add a heat shield.

car cranks over fine...and the ignition module has been replaced...its getting plenty of fire
