no gas? cant start? bad fuel pump?
no gas? cant start? bad fuel pump?
went out to start the car this morning...was running very low on gas...car started fine...but ran like it was running out...wnet dead....put gas in the tank...cranked back up...went dead again...now cant even get it to start...
I let the car run out of gas...would that cause the pump to go bad? I cant hear the normal pump whine........

ok..once I change the relay, how will I know if ts getting power or not? I should hear the pump come on? so if it doesnt then the pump is bad?
Re: no gas? cant start? bad fuel pump?
well I switched around the connections where the relays are and still nothing....no fuel pump sound...also I have a fuel pressure gauge installed on my shrader valve and it reads...the big ZERO!...
SOB!!! how in the hell can this thing be running perfect one minute and go to crank it back on and it takes a dump!.........I swear!

The fuel pump fuse isn't in the fuse panel. It's under the hood either on the driver's or passengers side bolted to the fender. Can't remember which side though. It's in it's own fuse holder, look around a bit and you'll find it. Maybe you got lucky and by heating the pump when it went dry it just got too hot and popped the fuse.
Re: no gas? cant start? bad fuel pump?
I've had two fuel pumps go bad on me and neither time did it go from running fine to dead with no warning. That doesn't mean that its impossible though. You have definitely narrowed your problem down to the pump or pump circuitry.

I cant find it.....I got a fuse in my fuse panel that says fuel pump and injectors....
do you know where it is? the only type of fues I found bolts to the fender was on the passanger side and it was right by the battery...but I thought that was the ECM fuse...
Re: no gas? cant start? bad fuel pump?
That fuse you found under the hood is for the fuel pump.
Behind the back seat in the center there is a plug. From under the car unplug it and put 12v. to I think it's the Gray wire. The pump should run.

The fuse labeled FP-inj, or FP-fans is not correct. I have found no connection from the fuse block to the fuel pump, or it's relay.
The inline fuse near the battery actually powers the fuel pump relay which powers the fuel pump, the MAF relay, and other circuits.
The oil pressure fuel pump switch is powered directly from the inline fuse, and indirectly via the fuel pump relay so if the relay fails the pump won't lose power you'll just expierence longer crank times. The oil pressure fuel pump switch will power the fuel pump and anything else on that circuit, like the MAF relay.
If you're not sure about fuel pump relay you can use the ALDL terminal "G," lower left hand corner, apply 12volts to it and if there's nothing with the pump it will run.
