Go supercharger all the way! I had a nos kit on my Vette. It worked great and was a good deal for the 5bills. HOwever, after 3 years, one day.......................I went to trun teh bottle on, the nitrous valve got stuck open. here i am at teh light next to a rustang. My aswome vette started running like shi* ?????? I stepon it.......Booom. lean condition due to the nitrous solinoid (SP?) I burned two valves, warped the head.......long story short, the repair cost would have been justified to haveing a reliable supercharger on the vett. I ended up puttin on a vortech anyway, then selling it and gettin a 92Z with a paxton. Superchargers are the way to go, never have to refill a bottle, boost is always there, no failing soilenoids, and tons of hp!!!!!! The atvantage of nitours is that it works well and is a good "Band for the Buck" but i would rather have the more reliable "bang for hte buck" EVEN IF IT COST A BIT MORE

IN THE BEGINNING...........GET TEH POINT!

MATTER OF PAY ME NOW, OR PAY ME LATTER!

well atleast u know u will need to redo the bottom end.. thats a must for either turbo, super, or spray. but u will need to up those injectors nomatter what. also a rebuild is a good suggestion if its up in miles on the engine. since u have a 305. im going to guess it hasnt had a rebuild. if it has, cool. but a poweradder on a 305 is kind of a waist. no before i start getting bashed by 305 owners, i just want to say that yes you CAN get power out of a 305.. it is possible. and you may pop out a few names of people who run s/c 305's in the 11's or 12.s but if u have a 350, i can do so much more. specially later.. aka 383. if i were you, honestly, id look into getting a GM crate engine, ie ZZ4 (the 330hp one) or maybe the fastburn 383, but i think the zz4 can be had for like 3k. maybe less. put ur TPI on there, some 22 or 24 lb injectors, new chip, ect.. u will have a good engien to start with, and then if u want to do a s/c or nitrous or turbo, u will gain that much more power. I remember when i had my 305 in my 86 iroc and i wanted to do stuff to it and everyone kept saying put a 350 in it. i didnt want to at first, but after bout a month of debating, i finally did, and im glad i did go the zz4 route. cause with that 305 and a 75 shot or a s/c woudl have made me like 275-300'ish hp. where as the zz4 + 100(or higher) shot or s/c would get me 430+ hp. just somethign to think about, and hope i didnt confuse u more

renting is just as bad as purchasing.....once you use it you will be hooked.

first of all 400 for all that described is an absolute steal for all that equipment. it must be used. used products are a great idea to save a ton of money; just expect to pay to rebuild the little cylinoids. although nx isn't that little like the NOS systems.

like i said i have 575 wrapped up into just my tpi plate kit, then there was the purge for 100, the heater for 100, the safety switch for 40, all the guages to monitor along with the pillar mount and necessary hoses and brackets for 800, then there was the rpm control module and pills 120.

then there was the fuel system, a better intank pump was needed for 175, then there was a booster that was needed for 250.....there was also alot of misc. junk that i had to buy here and there. then the expense of the N2O itself. while it was cheaper than your base procharger, it isn't that much cheaper.

true you can just get a basic kit or go with something like a nx single fogger kit with a gen x 2 setup and you'll be pretty good and under 1,000....but even still you will need a fuel upgrade to make sure you don't detonate. that's if you care about the rest of your car.

as long as your running rich you won't do much other than loose potential power, but you will save your engine........although; run to rich and you run the chance of cylinder washing. this is where to much fuel comes into play and all lubrication is washed away. not a good thing.

nitrous is safe, it is cheaper than a blower to get in the game; about even to have all your bases covered. the power is a greater feel than a supercharger; it has it's ups and downs though.

i would only consider nitrous for those who are looking for weekend play or strictly track use. for someone who wants an all the time performer the only way to go is forced induction.

my recommendation to you is to purchase a used kit from someone and just fix the worn out parts........the installation is a sinch compared to a procharger who has no instructions and then you can get a feel for it. if you don't like it you can resell it or use it for your intercooler. now that's alot of fun.

i dont think id ever buy used stuff.. specially nitrous stuff. i had a guy who was going to sell em a nos kit for $400 a while back and almost got it. but i would rather have new just so i knew where it had been. as far as the solinoids... unfortunatly i have heard/seen that happen alot. but it had been on cars that have been using nitrous for a while or alot in a short period of time so that makes me think that once a year i may get new solinoids just to be safe (i dont spray that much anyways, jsut the occational track day) .

I agree that a D1SC is the way to go over N20. I know a turbo would be better tho. The problem is no one makes a turbo system for the 3rd gens. You would have to fab alot of the parts. There is a company that sells Twin Turbo engines with the turbos installed. I am going to contact them later on and see if you can buy a twin turbo system from them ready to install. The company is called Nelson Racing engines. There phone # is 818 998/5592. I am not ready to install a turbo or D1SC right now and will call them later. If someone else calls please post what they say.
One thing I want to post about superchargers. When racing with a supercharger you can not make several runs in a row. I have a few friends who found out the hard way the piston rings will break when you make several runs back to back. I just wanted to let you all know so it doesn't happen to you.

I thought Gale Banks makes a turbo for our cars? LPE makes a twin turbo for the vette. I'll bet he could make one up for you if money is no object.
