HSR is probably the best for the amount of money it costs. Heads and cam are good too but you should have a new intake to go with it to fully realize its potential.

moooooore info

Where do you want to be when you are all said and done with this motor? How much power and i assume its for street use with the occasional trip to the track.

Are you willing to beef up your tranny and possibly replace your rear end because at a certain torque range id say around 400 ft lbs with agressive driving its just a matter of time.

I have also been wondering latly what the tolerance of a Gen 1 SBC is to power. Ive heard around 450-500 hp but is that the number at where youre pushing the limit or youre still safe? I believe one of the main concerns is that you would crack the webbing in the bottom of the block before anything else?

Little bit of a hijack there but good to know what youre limits are.

There are some cheap but very effective things that can be done first: underdrive pulleys (mine are from ASP (I had problems with the Motorvation pulley that I first ordered), Adjustable Fuel Preasure regulator to 50psi ( you can do some port work on the plenum when you install the Fuel Preasure regulator), advance you timing (mine is at 11degrees), gut the air box, plug wires, maybe a cap and rotor. It sounds from you post that you wanted to do some topend upgrades, but they are very expensive, and you can not just do one and expect to see much improvement. The stock L98 heads suck so just putting a cam in wont really help much, the Holley system is probably nice but the heads will unfortunately again prevent much improvement. I recomend you dont go out and buy a throttle body or intake runners, the only way parts like that really help is when they are part of a complete top end upgrade.

The biggest problem is the LTR setup. As bad as the heads are, the intake can't even properly support them.
