New Engine for third gen

Well I got the idea taht I might save up some moneyh and buy a third gen this summer to work on. This would be a long going project. I was thinking of buying a convertable. Once I got it, i would want to get to drive it right aways, just for fun, not neccsarily fast. Should I look for a real cheap v-6 and slap a v8 in there real fast, maybe the total cost of that would be less than the initial price of the v8? Or should I buy the v8, the do some body work and stuff, then go engine hunting? What would be a good engine to swap? If i found one with a 350 l98(?) would that be a good engine to build up? In the future I want an engine that can take a supercharger and a shot of nitrous in the long run, and that will just be badass.

Thanks for the advice.

Its definetely cheaper to get one with a V8 first. Even a real weak 305 like a TBI car. Im not sure which ones came with the vert option. If you found one with an L98 you would be set, because you can do pretty much anything you want to with that block even though the heads kinda suck.

But even if you only got one with a 305, its much easier to swap in a better small block than it would be from a v6 car.

finding a v8 car is the best bet. look for a TBI car with a good body, usually you can find these very cheap. Then go ahead and start a motor project. Ive got one listed for sale in the forum if your intereasted.

The nice thing with the v8 car is that everything is already there for a v8 instead of tracking down all the suspension, mounts, tranny, etc.. I dod a 305 tpi CAR AND IT WAS VERY AFFORDABLE!
