new cam f*#*ed up my idle
i have a 305tpi and i put in a new cam and now i cant get my idle right.. it sits at about 500 in gear and dies 75% of the time and when i am in park etc it is up around 2k is it just my timing thats still f***ed up or do i need a custom chip??? thanks
Yeah what camshaft was it? Give us some specs!!
If anything just try bumping the idle speed up by turning the screw on the throttle body linkage...there's nothing wrong with a 750RPM idle...

it was the crane energizer cam i forget what all the specs are but i know its 216/216 at .050.. i tried turning the screw.. and all that but the thing is my idle is just too low and when im in N its almost 2000
Set the throttle stop screw back to where it was. Did you check your TPS voltage setting? Your stock chip should work fine. Did you drive the car for 15 minutes above 35 mph after you installed the cam so the ecm can relearn itself? If you want, buy a stock prom for a 1988 corvette. It works very well for mild cam upgrades. I have used this prom in two different cam installations on a '87 TPI (latest being a GM hot cam)and it functions well. Did you check for a possible vaccum leak? If all is ok, then ground out your ALDL with ign on, then unplug the IAC connector. Start the engine and keep turning the throttle stop screw until you reach 700 rpm. If you have access to a Tech 1, you want to achieve "0" counts on the IAC when doing it this way.
