What heads are you running?

Looking to buy a set of assembeled heads from jegs or summit or where ever. I'm goin to be porting the hell out of my lower and upper intake (TPI) and going with a set of SLP siamesed runners. Reason is I'll probably be spending all my money on the heads themselves. Don't worry guys, afterwards I'll be replacing the upper and lower with matching units and 58mm TB. Here's what I'm looking for.

Want to run a decent sized cam. Good flowing heads with 1.6 self aligning rollor rockers. Heads and lower intake matched.

What are you guys running? How much HP/TQ can I expect to see? Keep in mind this is a 350 TPI with stock heads, keith black flat top pistons and TES headers. 3in custom exhaust with no cats, AFPR running 14.30's on a humid night.

I'm sure with a good set of heads, ported everything and some ET streets I can hit somewhere in the upper 13's. After this I'll work out all the suspension.

you wont need 1.6 rockers if you have a decent cam also its proven that 1.5 rockers have a better bottom end.

secondly i talked to a cylinder head specialist and he told me that BRODIX heads are awesome but it will cost you.

re

if you want the best bang for buck heads, get the vortec heads. they provide ample power for what you have and cost only $500.

Vortecs also require the Scoggin-Dickey intake manifold base, so add another $400 or so to that $500 pricetag.

Also figure that if you don't like the vortech manifold, tough. I got AFR 190cc aluminum heads and am using a Accel Superram intake system. You could use the AFR 190 cc heads and work it with any manifold and it is half as heavy as the steel heads. I used to have TFS heads and they sucked and had problems. Never again. AFR also has it so you could specify what compression ratio and they will advise you how much to remove from the bowl. They will even do it for a small fee.

What is your price range? I think if I had a tpi system I'd wait till the Stealth ram vortec system came out then do vortecs or fastburns and the stealth ram. Man that'd be a killer low-buck combo.

I was thinkng around $600-$700 bucks assembeld. A buddie of mine has a set of LT1 heads all ported and pollished blah blah blah. I figure the heads will have to be re-drilled to accept the angle of the lower intake manifold bolts. Was also thinking that they could be milled for a bit more compression.

Port and polish your stock heads. They can be made to outflow Vortecs, and I think that's what you are looking for--for less than $400 US TOTAL!!!

The problem with this question is that there are a million different combo's that will work. All above are good, here's another.

ZZ4 short block
LT4 Hot Cam Kit

Stock L98 aluminum heads, over size valves, pocket port, intake ports matched to intake manifold.

Edelbrock SuperRam intake
24lb/hr injetors, TB, etc., etc.
401rwhp.
