Recently my service engine soon light would come on, so I hooked the scanner up and got a code "44" lean oxygen. So i replaced the oxygen sensor and periodically the light comes on for a while and goes away. I already tried unhooking the neg battery side and resetting the computer. Any suggestions?
Have you checked for codes since the light has come back on? Even if it doesnt stay on, I think it can trip codes.
Either way, I would disconnect the battery for about 2 mins, that will clear the computer memory, then see if you still get the light/codes.

Is your car running like ****? I assume u keep it regularly maintained? If not may try replacing the fuel filter. For some reason you are experiencing an over lean condition which in turn will make your ECM try and compensate and add fuel....lots of it. You need to check fuel pressure at the rail (or carb if u have one) and if its EFI it should be at least 45PSI, carbed it should run 7-9 psi.
Get to the bottom of the situation before it really screws something up in the engine.

Check the resistance on your injectors. If you are using stock injectors (i.e. the time bomb multecs), they will undoubtedly need to be replaced. The stockers should read a resistance of 16 ohms. I would replace them for the hell of it because those injectors will go bad and you'll spend hours trying to figure out what the hell is wrong.
Repeat, check your injectors before anything else.
