Need help with a 92 Camaro (please)
Dad has a 92 Camaro with the computer chip key system. He disconnected the battery for a few months. Now there is no power to the car. I think it has to do with the anti-theft system. Is there a way to reset it? Is he going to have to tow it to the dealership?
Many thanks for your help!

Disconnecting the battery shouldn't give you VATS problems... Is there no electricity at all? or is it just when you turn the key to start, nothing happens?
How the VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) works is that computer chip looking thing in the key is just a resistor. The resistors range from 1 to 15 ohms if I remember right (Mine is 12 ohms) and if the VATS does not sense the correct resistance from that pellet in the key, then it will not allow the ignition, the fuel pump, or the starter to function...but all the lights and radio and windows and such should still work.
If your problem IS the VATS, Eckler's sells a kit to bypass it completely. I think that kit is around $20 or so...
Good luck!
