Need Exhaust Ideas...

It's time for new exhaust and I don't know how I wanna do it. I have headers that are going on it (86 305 TPI). I want just a little more aggressive then factory, but not over-powering. I don't want it to have a "raspy" sound while accelerating either. I also don't know how I want it to come out the back. If you guys could post pics of your exhaust for ideas, that would be great! Thanks!

True Duals! That would be sweet! If I had to redo mine, I'd put a 4th gen SLP LoudMouth system on but you said you don't like any rasp. Good luck bro and ttt for you!

Doug you've been saying that for days man! Haha, I can't wait though, you also should look into somehow getting a sound clip hosted, I bet your car sounds mean as crap!

The SLP 2OTL sounds pretty good. Nice and mellow, not at all raspy.

I don't know what the Gale Banks sounds or even looks like for that matter anymore. But back in 87, it was a great looking and sounding exhaust. Also 2 OTL and stainless like the SLP but more of a burbly kind of sound. The best sounding exhaust of that era.

EDIT!!! true dual pics are up, check my thread out. I wont be getting a sound clip for a couple different reasons. First i dont have anything to record a sound clip with. Second eh well too many things i wont start it and rev it up on jack stands and it has a flat so its not coming down and well youll just have to wait until summer and yes it sounds mean as all hell and crazy loud too with chambered mufflers.

Headers with a matching Y-Pipe of course. Remove the cat converter and the rest of the cat back exhaust. Now in place of the cat converter(right under it's heat shield), place a 3 or 3.5" Flowmaster 2 chamber. A small bend is needed from the Y pipe to it and then from the flowmaster, it needs another small bend and make the exhaust follow the driveshaft basically and make it dump before the rear axle. It will be cheaper, lighter weight, more efficient, and better sounding than any flowmaster cat back out there and probably better than any cat-back in general. Any competent shop can do the install. I run a shorty system like that on my car and I'll do nothing else but it. I started with a 2.5" System with a 2 chamber flowmaster with my 305, then stepped up to a new 3" system and soon I'll do either a 3.5" or a 4" piped system. The typical "resonating frequency" you get from a flowmaster on a 305 with a 3" flowmaster like I have will be at 3000 rpm. Well above cruising rpm. The normal crossflow flowmaster cat back drones at 2000 rpm from what I always seen. right at cruise rpm and it's annoying.. Goodluck!!

I have a 3" hooker cat back and I absolutely love the sound. It doesn't have that anoying droning sound like flowmasters and it is not extremely loud ethier.

Well my 87 GTA had flowmasters originally then a pacesetter then the slp loudmouth and now has a borla on it. Borla's my favorite but the loudmouth was cool. Look into the SLP 2OTL. Its a relly good setup.

The SLP 3 in works good and fits well. Never cared about the sound so I don't know how it sounds in relation to anything else. I let the ricers worry about how an exhaust sounds.
