Need Exhaust Ideas...
It's time for new exhaust and I don't know how I wanna do it. I have headers that are going on it (86 305 TPI). I want just a little more aggressive then factory, but not over-powering. I don't want it to have a "raspy" sound while accelerating either. I also don't know how I want it to come out the back. If you guys could post pics of your exhaust for ideas, that would be great! Thanks!

The SLP 2OTL sounds pretty good. Nice and mellow, not at all raspy.
I don't know what the Gale Banks sounds or even looks like for that matter anymore. But back in 87, it was a great looking and sounding exhaust. Also 2 OTL and stainless like the SLP but more of a burbly kind of sound. The best sounding exhaust of that era.

Headers with a matching Y-Pipe of course. Remove the cat converter and the rest of the cat back exhaust. Now in place of the cat converter(right under it's heat shield), place a 3 or 3.5" Flowmaster 2 chamber. A small bend is needed from the Y pipe to it and then from the flowmaster, it needs another small bend and make the exhaust follow the driveshaft basically and make it dump before the rear axle. It will be cheaper, lighter weight, more efficient, and better sounding than any flowmaster cat back out there and probably better than any cat-back in general. Any competent shop can do the install. I run a shorty system like that on my car and I'll do nothing else but it. I started with a 2.5" System with a 2 chamber flowmaster with my 305, then stepped up to a new 3" system and soon I'll do either a 3.5" or a 4" piped system. The typical "resonating frequency" you get from a flowmaster on a 305 with a 3" flowmaster like I have will be at 3000 rpm. Well above cruising rpm. The normal crossflow flowmaster cat back drones at 2000 rpm from what I always seen. right at cruise rpm and it's annoying.. Goodluck!!
Well my 87 GTA had flowmasters originally then a pacesetter then the slp loudmouth and now has a borla on it. Borla's my favorite but the loudmouth was cool. Look into the SLP 2OTL. Its a relly good setup.
