Need advise for my 3rd gen friend

Hello i have a LT1 and a friend is replacing his 3rd gen firebird (with rear disc brakes ) 350ci and he asked to find some new or alternative brake system, cause they feel weak.

I could only mention about the 1LE option. I have LS1 on my 97 TA and that was a great improvment, but can things like that work for you 3rd gen people?

What options can you 3rd gen teach me about

Check out www.spohn.net for info on the 1LE kits for thirdgens but that is prolly the best way to go or with a BAER kit.

1LE, LT1, LS1, and C4 Corvette front brake systems can all be made to fit the 3rd gen without too much trouble. The LS1 system is probably the best stop-for-the-buck since most of the parts can be found fairly easily at junkyards (keep in mind the 98+ V6 cars had the exact same brakes.) Using 4th gen brakes does require milling the rotor portion off of a set of 3rd gen rotor-hubs, but that's not difficult at all. Any machine shop can do it. Run a search in the "suspension/chassis/brakes" section at thirdgen.org as these brake swaps have all been covered in extensive threads there.

As far as rear brakes, the 89+ PBR setup is a great upgrade from the old Delco-Moraine calipers, and the PBR brakes were used all the way up to '97 so parts aren't that hard to find. Finding a set of 3rd gen backing plates will give you the most trouble during that swap.
