my buddys 305

A friend of mine has an 89 rs with a 305 in it, I've been helping him with it. Convinced him to get some headers and full exhaust, intake work planned in the future. I was thinking that some kind of fuel line or injector mod would be a good idea because the 305 isn't well known for its top end. That combined with the other mods would help I think. Any thoughts? What should we do next that isnt very expensive and keep in mind that we are two guys who are still learning. thanks...

If I had to do it all over again this is what I'd do when I started out:

1st: free mods (look for ultimate tbi mods on www.thirdgen.org in the tech articles section) and open element

2. SLP take-out posi, used 3.42 gears, lower control arm relocation brackets

3. Headers (Hooker 2055s - smog legal), catco 3" in/out cat, any 3" catback. Make sure everything is 3" though.

At that point you got the restrictive stuff off the outside of the engine. Plus the computer wont be pissy about the stuff you've done, you'll just need to add a little fuel pressure and you'll be fine.

If you're really serious about tearing into the engine then do a search for lt1 cam or vortec heads on the tbi board on thirdgen.org.
